Since its debut in 1936, the Model 70 has been the gold standard for bolt-action rifles. It boasts a well-known 3-position safety that can be easily operated with the thumb of your shooting hand, effectively disengaging the firing pin from the sear. The receiver, made from forged steel, originates from a solid block, featuring a flat bottom profile that increases the surface area for bedding. It is secured with a two-part epoxy in two critical areas, at the front and rear, to minimize any movement within the stock during firing. The classic Controlled Round Feed (CRF) bolt design includes a substantial claw extractor that smoothly engages and secures about a quarter of the cartridge base, providing full control from the moment the cartridge leaves the magazine until it is ejected. This design also allows for the extraction of an unfired cartridge, even if it hasn't fully entered the chamber. The M.O.A. Trigger System is renowned as the most precise three-lever trigger system available, enhancing fit, finish, and accuracy while maintaining the traditional Pre-'64 controlled round feeding. Additionally, a blade-type ejector ensures precise control during the ejection of fired cases, and the free-floating barrel is button rifled to ensure superior accuracy and durability.
